Even now, …crisp mornings are inspiring new layers of clothing. Fall is coming closer here in Oregon. As I pack for travel to New Mexico, I finished this French Fold Shrug. Using a hand-woven cotton, it is reversible with linen binding finishing the seam under the arm and repeating it on one of the hem edges. The grey/brown color is a nice contrast to the raw edges that this piece called for. It will be perfect over a linen tunic in the high desert.
The French Fold Shrug lends itself to recycled pieces, historic textiles, table cloths and drapey. The white hand-stitched piece below, a favorite this summer, is made from a cotton drapery panel.
