"Stitching is my second language. I tell my story through the medium of quilted textiles. The contrast—a strong line against a giving surface—captures what I know and must say. I’m interested in how we communicate with each other—leaders to followers, poets to people, the loud and the silent. From electronic signals to sidelong glances, they all intrigue me. I look for the uncanny in life. It’s as if there is a secret code I want to decipher. A book, a headline, my garden, a muttered oath all bring inspiration to the cloth". "I'm always inspired with fresh vision on returning to New Mexico for yearly retreats. Color and form find their way into my printed imagery and textile work.....while the high desert air and views are a reminder to breath in, settle in and celebrate the magic and new work that takes form in the studio there. It's the perfect place to play with surface design, mixed media, stitching, and how it crossing into the work you want to create". We set up a working studio, including surface design area with textile paints, dye na flow, stencils, stamps and other tools for your use". Come explore your creativity: make a collage or make a dress...discover what is new for you! Diane
PUEBLO DREAMS by Diane Ericson
The New Mexico Landscape is always an invitation to breath deeply and extend our vision across the vast open terrain as it meets the sky there.
